The Nutrition Study Program at Universitas Singaperbangsa Karawang (Unsika) has initiated an exciting collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to develop high-fiber rice products. This partnership aims to innovate staple food products to meet the growing demand for healthier dietary option. As part of this collaboration, researchers from Unsika and BRIN are working together to enhance the nutritional profile of rice by increasing its fiber content while maintaining its taste and texture. The initiative is aligned with the program’s focus on industrial and culinary nutrition, emphasizing innovation in food technology and health promotion.
The partnership officially commenced with a joint research agreement, followed by a series of workshops and trials conducted at BRIN’s state-of-the-art facilities. These efforts are expected to result in a product that not only supports better digestive health but also addresses broader public health challenges, such as obesity and metabolic disorders.Dr. Al Mukhlas Fikri, a leading researcher from Unsika’s Nutrition Study Program, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “High-fiber rice represents a breakthrough in functional food development.
